Elise loves Where's Waldo. Her Aunt gave her a costume last Halloween and she loves wearing it. She can spot Waldo in record time and both girls love doing his search and find books. I still have a ton of red and white stripped paper goods from Elise's soccer party that inspired me to try a Where's Waldo Day.

Who knew Waldo was so popular and that this would be one of the easiest themes? There are apparently a lot of people who are really into Waldo. Pinterest was loaded with ideas. I knew my Aunt had some Where's Waldo costumes so I asked her to leave them on her porch so Daddy and I could dress up too.

Elise was thrilled to get into her Waldo costume again and to see all of us get into the spirit. I improvised with Avery using a Elise's red & white stripped soccer jersey since none of the adult costumes fit her.

The snack counter was fun to set up. I printed out some Waldo pictures, found some Waldo books and posters Elise had in her room for our decor. I then searched for red and white food items around the house. The red and white stripped paper goods from Elise's soccer party have made their way into our 3rd theme. For snacks, I made stripped marshmallows and strawberries on a tooth pick, made salami & cheese sandwiches, and cupcakes with red & white stripped frosting. I found some peppermint candies, red raspberries, red Babybel Cheeses and string cheese (I added red stripes to the wrapper with a Sharpie.) I also had some left over red M&Ms from Valentines Day. Some other fun ideas that I didn't have on hand were red fruit punch and red vines.

I would never have expected to find an educational tie in for our Where is Waldo Wednesday, but I found an amazing free handout created by a librarian (link below). The packet included some fun cut outs we used for decorations and multiple activities for the day. There was a word search, an activity lesson on learning the different parts of a book, and a fun scavenger hunt template.

We concluded our theme day with our scavenger hunt. I hid the cut outs throughout the house and placed hints on the search and find handout. For example, Wenda is somewhere where our dirty clothes go. We also played a little Hide-and-go-seek.
